2024 Missions Initiatives

God is using Northeast to reach Northeast Houston and the Nations with the gospel. We have prayerfully considered where the Lord would lead us in 2024 and are excited about our opportunities as a church family to follow Christ’s command to “Go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19-20).

2024 Missions Initiatives 

Every believer is called to live sent by God. We want to remove any barrier we can so you can live out the calling God has placed on your life. In 2024, we have two new exciting programs to help you say YES to missions:

Head of Household Initiative*

If you’ve never been on a mission trip and are a head of household (husband, father, single mom, grandparent raising children) email info@nehbc.com. We will help you find a trip that is appropriate for you and we will cover travel, lodging, and food costs for the trip so that you can bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who need to hear it. 

Missions Cost Cap*

Everything is more expensive, including trips. To help make any trip accessible to everyone, we are capping your cost to go on a mission trip this year. A domestic trip with no airfare will cost you $250, a domestic trip with airfare will cost $750, and all international trips will be capped at $1750. To help you take the gospel to the ends of the earth, we will cover the rest of the costs.

Northeast Houston Community Center | Year Round
NEHCC is our physical needs mission in the Eastex-Jensen area of Houston. Volunteers engage in extended gospel conversations with people from the community each Monday as we meet their essential food and clothing needs. Due to the large Hispanic population, Spanish speakers are in dire need for Monday nights. Cost: Free

Care Net Pregnancy Center | Year Round
Care Net has recently opened a pregnancy center in our backyard in order to provide ultrasound imaging, counseling, and educational classes to women who might otherwise choose abortion for their pregnancies. In every context, they emphasize the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these women in crisis. Volunteers are needed in various areas. Care Net also has a men’s program, so guys can volunteer as well. Jericho Project Week | June 3-7
Through Jericho Project we go door to door in the surrounding communities to share the gospel with those who are close to us but far from God. We go out one Saturday per quarter and one full week June 3-7. Jericho Project is a great way to hone your evangelism skills and boldness without leaving town. Cost: Free

Active8 Kids Camp | July 14-18
ACTIVE8 Camp is a 5-day kid’s camp here on Northeast’s campus that is open to children from our entire community who have completed Kindergarten-6th grade. Each evening they play sports, do activities, and most importantly hear the gospel as they learn about the Bible. Adults and teens, join us in serving our community as we reach hundreds of kids with the gospel each night. Cost: Free

Humble Christmas Parade | December 3
Each year the Humble Christmas Parade is a huge event in this community and a rare opportunity to reach thousands of people with the gospel. We set up a tent on the parade route and hand out Christmas Eve service invite cards. We also provide light-up necklaces, hot chocolate, and crafts for kids. Other volunteers engage the crowds along the parade route handing out tracts and invite cards while sharing the gospel. Cost: Free

Indonesia | April 19-27
We will work with a local partner team to engage the native people on the Island of Sulawesi in the predominantly Muslim population of Indonesia. Cost: $1750

We will partner with a local pastor and church to engage people through door-to-door evangelism. Cost: $750

Brownsville | July 6-12
We will partner with Logo Baptist Church in Brownsville doing door-to-door evangelism. We will also help them reach a local college campus through outreach. Cost: $250

Paris | September 15-21
We will continue to work with our long-term mission partners in Paris as we engage people from North Africa and the Middle East who have traveled to a western country, where sharing the gospel is allowed. Cost: $1750

North Africa | October 5-12
We will engage people in markets and on the street in order to facilitate gospel conversations and future contacts for our Northeast mission partners in the field. Cost: $1750

New Bedford | Fall 2024
Despite its Christian roots, New England is essentially an unreached people group in our nation. We will work with Grace Harbor church to revitalize churches in the area and reach out to the communities around them through door-to-door evangelism or camps. Cost: $750

Southeast Africa | Late Fall 2024
We will continue our long-term partnership with Northeast families working in-country with local people groups and refugees who have fled violence in rural areas. We have opportunities to work with people groups previously closed off from contact. Cost: $1750

IMB (International Mission Board) | Accepting Applications
The IMB would love to talk more about the opportunities available to you as you consider a call to mission work. Northeast has a passion for sending out individuals and families as missionaries to the nations to work with unreached and unengaged people groups (UUPGs).
