Path Forward

The Path Forward 2009 – 2011

In order to pursue such an aggressive church planting strategy, NEHBC has to first establish a personnel and resource base with which to sustain it. It is very difficult for any church to absorb the loss of 200 people and $250,000 because of a church plant, but imagine trying to do so every two years? Statistically, we would have to have a Sunday attendance of at least 1,200 - 1,500 people. As a result, in 2009, NEHBC master planned a church campus to service a congregation of 1,500 that has our approach to ministry. The first step was to build a worship center to accommodate 1,500 people in two services. We accomplished that goal in December 2010 when we opened our new worship center funded by a two-year building campaign from 2009-2011. This successful major step forward was our congregation's enthusiastic endorsement of our Glory to God Vision.

Just as soon as our congregation affirmed the Glory to God Vision, the Lord miraculously confirmed we were on the right track. Two months after our church stepped out by faith toward Glory to God, the Lord unexpectedly fulfilled two of our big dreams: a physical needs mission in the city of Houston and a pro-life crisis pregnancy clinic to fight for the lives of the unborn. A local church in Houston's 5th Ward was closing up and offered NEHBC their campus outright...1.5 city blocks. They just gave it to us for free after hearing of our vision. At the same time, a foundation that starts pro-life, Gospel-centered, crisis pregnancy clinics was looking for a northeast Houston location. So, in June 2009, NEHBC launched Farrington Mission with a crisis pregnancy clinic, food pantry, clothing closet, and basketball ministry right in the heart of Houston's 5th Ward. We believe this stunning miracle of God was His affirmation of our willingness to follow Him toward the Glory to God Vision.
