Glory to God! 2017 was possibly the greatest year of gospel advancement in our church’s history. Overseas, our UPG partnerships in North Africa, Mozambique, and London took major steps forward. In northeast Houston we offered the gospel to 10,000 homes in New Caney and over 8,000 individuals in Houston’s Fifth Ward. We surpassed the 16,000 homes mark in Jericho Project around NEHBC and we planted Emmanuel Baptist Church. The extraordinary missionary movement in our church in 2017 is directly tied to our last Pray-Give-Go emphasis. The Lord is honoring our commitment to missions.

It is time for the Pray-Give-Go season to prepare us for missions in 2018. I am writing to you about our annual Greatest Gift to Jesus Missions Offering, the heart of “Give” month. We purposefully collect this offering every year at Christmas time for two major reasons:

  1. It is a major boost to our congregation’s efforts to spread the Gospel in our city and around the world. 100% of this offering goes to missions. Major work like Farrington Mission and global efforts such as the microloan projects in Mauritania and the International Mission Board work depend on this offering.
  1. It trains our hearts to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Generous financial giving to Christ’s mission is key to calibrating our hearts to Kingdom living.

This year we have yet another motivating factor for our big missions offering:  our next “high impact” church plant in northeast Houston. Should we have enough funding, our goal will be to launch our next plant in 2018.

Please prayerfully consider your participation in this offering on Sunday, December 10th.

Here are some guiding principles to think through as you pray:

  • This is a one-time offering, over and above your regular tithes to the budget fund.
  • You can give online or via the pink envelope in the Sunday Morning Worship Guide.
  • The way you can designate your offering to the Greatest Gift to Jesus Missions Offering is by using the missions line on the pink envelope or on the website giving page:

I love y’all.
